Picc Line Nurses
The PICC Line Registered Nurse must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the care of patients requiring IV access. The RN will provide Vascular Access device insertions (Picc, Mid and PIV) in a variety of settings, including; Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, and Home Care Settings, insertion of PICC lines, maintaining PICC and other central venous access devices, difficult peripheral IV site starts, Troubleshooting Catheters, dicots, repositioning and monitoring quality metrics related to these devices.
Must complete proctoring and demonstrate competency with PICC insertions using ultrasound. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and physicians.
: Employee will be expected to perform most all job duties independently and in accordance with established company policies and procedures. To include troubleshooting catheters, declots and repositioning.
· Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current State Nursing licensure as a Registered Nurse; BLS - Healthcare provider.
· The PICC RN must be able to respond and communicate effectively. He/she must utilize critical thinking skills when problem solving line issues.
· The PICC RN will educate patients and families regarding PICC lines and other central venous access
-Two years bedside clinical RN experience required. One year as a PICC/Vascular Access nurse required or a minimum of 100 documented insertions.
