Job Description :

The High Voltage Substation Technician position is for an experienced technician to work in energized high voltage substations. This position requires experience that demonstrates the following capabilities working inside an energized substations (13kV to 500kV) in close proximity to energized bus and equipment in a safe manner.  And the ability to install steel structures, porcelain insulators, high voltage Equipment, assembly of high voltage gang operated switches, pulling control cable, and other work required to construct and modify substations. 


 


The work is in Daytona and the surrounding areas. The work is typically 5 days a week. At times weekend and overnight work is required when clearances are available.


 


·Assemble three pole motor operated switches.


·Install circuit switchers with shunt trip.


·Install copperweld grounding.


·Bend, fit, and install bus bar.


·Operate hypress.


·Operate hydraulic Octupus bender.


·Operate magnetic drill for precision holes in structural steel.


·Operate hydraulic bus punch for NEMA 4 hole connections.


·Clean, grease, properly install bolts & Belleville washers, and torque high voltage connections

To qualify for this position


Must have hands on experience performing this work inside energized high voltage substations.


Thorough knowledge of substation construction.




PHYSICAL SKILLS


Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull heavy objects.


May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects.


Ability to differentiate between colors for identifying color-coded wiring.


Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills.


Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb and walk frequently.


Must have clear background check, clear valid driver's license and your own reliable transportation.
