Diesel Mechanic - Fort Myers


A well-established Tractor and Equipment dealership that provides products and equipment that are used for everything from construction clean up and site preparation for houses, to golf course and landscape maintenance is in search of an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Fort Myers.









As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play an essential role working full-time keeping diesel-powered  tractors and other equipment in good working condition, ensuring safety and efficiency on the road or in various field work settings. 


 


Key Responsibilities:




    • Team Interaction: Communicate with service writers and review work orders to assess repair and/or maintenance needs.





    • Diagnostic Testing: Run diagnostic tests on diesel engines to identify issues and propose suitable solutions.





    • Inspections: Inspect various vehicle systems.





    • Repairs and Replacements: Perform repairs or replacements on components.





    • Test Driving: Test drive repaired vehicles to ensure proper functioning.





    • Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks.





    • Shop Organization: Keep the repair shop clean and organized.

What We're Looking For:




  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of diesel engine components, specifically tractor engines, electrical systems, and vehicle mechanics.






  • Tool Proficiency: Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools. NOTE: SPECIALITY TOOLS ARE PROVIDED as well as secure storage for your own regular tools.






  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and address complex issues.






  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure precise repairs.






  • Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in diesel engine diagnostic software.






  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license to conduct test drives and field visits.






  • Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with colleagues and customers.




Education and Training Requirements:




  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED.






  • Certification and training in diesel engine repair from a vocational school or community college.






  • Training modules cover various aspects of diesel engine repair.






  • Preferred: Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) with at least two years of work experience.






  • Preferred: a degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, providing deeper theoretical and practical knowledge.




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS




  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing or walking






  • Ability to work in enclosed environments exposed to excessive noise, automotive shop environment, and cold or heat






  • Must be able to lift at least 75lbs
